Wow! This totally caught me off guard. As you all know by now Michael J Jackson died today. Taking away all the things that had nothing to do with his career, you can not deny his contribution to the music world. Me being the oldest of the Bandit crew I can remember practicing his dance moves in my living room w/my cousin after watching Motown 25 on TV. Or the day the video for "Thriller" premiered on this show called "Friday Night Videos" on NBC. You can't deny that most if not all RnB/Pop artist have taken something the Michael Jackson book of dance and/or music. Hello good people. I wanted to share something that I learned during our Miami trip for WMC. Let me start off by saying that this was my first trip to Miami, so I had some preconceived notions of what Miami was all about (fake tans, fake boobies, fake eyebrows, real palm trees, ridiculously priced drinks, girls with "Daddy Issues" clinging onto muscle-bound dickfaces who have no self-esteem either, Bentleys, bubble gum paint everywhere, lots of gay dudes, CSI, cocaine, Euro-trash sunglasses, shitty club music, Hulk Hogan, bleach blondes... you feel me). While most of them were true, I also discovered a hidden secret about Miami... grown men and women Bedazzle their clothes down there!! For real, and we're talking about your typical steroid-addicted, fake tan-havin', muscle-bound football shitheads that you see in the club with a large group of other shitheads with little- to-no rhythm.

If you are not familiar with Bedazzling let me show you...

Okay. So, these dudes wear Bedazzled jeans, Bedazzled shirts, Bedazzled shoes, Bedazzled sunglasses, Bedazzled belts... For real!! What!? How did this shit catch on? I thought teenage girls were the only people who were amazed by "shiny things" and felt the need to make all there belongings "shiny" and "pretty". This is just beyond me.

This is just one of many reasons why ya boy Turbo does NOT fit in in Miami!!! I like my jeans blue, my belts leather, my shirts T, and my ass BEDAZZLE-FREE!!!

Push For The Playoffs...

A couple weeks back I went to my first Chicago Bulls game. After watching them for years on TV it was great to finally see the action live. Our seats were 10 rows off the court and were right by the Bulls locker room entrance/exit.

The Bulls played the Miami Heat and beat them by 20 or 30 points. D. Wade is unstoppable, can score at will, but we shut him down second half some how. Makes me SO happy we picked Rose over Beasly. Beasly has been a bum thus far.

Anyways, the Salmons & Miller trade was a steal, plus we got a first round draft pic from the Knicks. Paxson really pulled this one off nicely. Three great trades to improve the team greatly. Now let's see how high of a seed we can get in the playoffs, as we are currently in the 7th.

Not only am I extremely happy for baseball season tonight, but the Chicago Bears are making moves for what it seems like the first time in franchise history. We have a young, talented, pro bowl player under center. Although it is still hard to believe for most Chicago Bear Fans, this season should be a lot different. Turbo Blog Post #1 "Stanky Legg"

So this is my first blog post to date. I'm going to be playing around with ideas until I settle into something so, bare with me people. I can assure you that whatever I end up doing, it will be much better than these other boring posts that you all have had to deal with since the launch of Bandit Life. I apologize for what you all have had to endure.

Okay so we all are familiar with Soulja Boy's breakout hit (with a dance to match), "Crank Dat Soulja Boy". This was a new low in music. The track was shamefully elementary and well, just bad, "bing, bong, bing".... I mean, come on man. Not to mention Soulja Boy's hilariously indecipherable, half retarded lyrics reminiscent of a spoiled little kid whining to his parents while on some sort of sedative. The worst thing about the Soulja Boy phenomenon is just how big it got. I mean people, they played that shit at damn near every football game last season. I saw a family on TV at a game singing it in unison, "now super-soak that hoe!".... really!? Do you idiots even know what you're repeating? The real question is who the hell approved that song to be played for a family event like a football game? I mean what was the conversation?... "Uh yeah, that's fine. Don't worry about the super soaking them hoes line. No one will know that he is referring to ejaculating on a hooker. It'll be fine."... The sad thing is that is was, obviously... wow America, give yourselves a big pat on the back.

The latest saga in the "dumbest song with a dance to it" craze is... drumroll..... GS Boyz's "Stanky Legg". TADA!!

Ok... where do I begin? First of all I think this is hilarious... but not like in a- "we're laughing with you" type of way.

Just watch this and we'll talk below when you're done.

Wow. Amazing right!? I really, really want to know what the origin of this phrase "stanky leg" is. I'm assuming someone in their little school yard crew had a smelly leg at some point...? You tell me. The strangest thing is that they decided to stick with that playground phrase to record a single, with a dance... and of course, a music video. I mean who is paying for this stuff? "Yeah man, I'll shot your music video for your new single, "Do Tha Stanky Legg". Sounds Like a smash hit!" Wow. Don't forget here people, this is a real video and someone really paid for it.... for real. Moving on...

Ok, is this dance not a little on the sunny side of the street, if you know what I mean? Dude is snappin his fingers back and forth in the air like fucking Rupaul! Seriously. Also I'm still not quite sure what, "Now Hit The Booty Doo!" actually means. Are we talking about punching poop that came out of the booty? ... "Hit The Booty Doo"... come on that's what that means right?

Last but not least, why are the words constantly flashing at you? I know, I know. To put it in your head, like they don't repeat the same three lines for 3 minutes!!! Well.... mission accomplished evil music destroyers. You got me.

No Exaggeration Necessary #5: Kevin Coval – Louder Then A Bomb

As you know, I normally take this time to write about how great and amazing I am but today needs to be dedicated to a truly amazing person who throws one of the greatest events Chicago has even been a part of.

This week I dedicate my “No Exaggeration Necessary” blog to Kevin Coval. Last year Kevin was named Chicago Bachelor of the Year but I think that doesn’t even come close to doing him justice. If it were up to me, he would be named Pimp of the Day, Man of the Week, Teacher of the Month and then Bachelor of the Year.

What impresses me the most with Kevin is not the amount of times he has been on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, or the two books he has had published of which the first went gold and the second is on the way to surpassing that. It’s not the fact that he travels around the country speaking and teaching at schools like Harvard nor is it the fact that he was named the most eligible man in the city (of which I am very jealous), it’s none of that. What I admire most about Kevin is the power and strength which he provides young adults from all corners of the city.

9 years ago Kevin started a citywide poetry slam for the Chicago Public and Alternative High School system. As most grassroots organizations, it started with just 12 teams and 56 kids and now, 9 years later, 60 teams with over 500 kids compete in font of thousands of spectators. The kids who participate are usually not the stars of the basketball team or cheerleaders - these are the kids who get overlooked on a daily basis and Kevin has created a platform for them to shine as the stars they are.

The contestants are the kids whom you always see in deep thought and wonder what they hell they could possibly be thinking all day. They don’t care about the typical things a teenager cares about or carry the weight of the world like most… or so you think.

It turns out that all kids, regardless of where they grew up, how hood or preppy their school is, or what activities they involve themselves in, all have the same story. That’s the craziest thing to me about listening to every kid who takes the stage, they all tell the same story.

Whether they are taking about their struggles of being a gay teen, or the only white kid in a class, or a Muslim girl told her falling in love is a sin, or a guy who was born physically (but defiantly not mentally) disabled, or a parents divorce or the loss of a sibling, they all tell the same story at the end of it all.

The story is life is hard at that age. We learn to cope with it and enjoy the positive aspects of life as we grow but when you’re young and don’t have much going on, everything seems way more serious.

Kevin has given these kids an outlet for their stories, yet it’s so much more then that. This is a poetry slam, not a write about your personal issues therapy session. But this is their only outlet. They share their most personal life secrets with thousands of people because Kevin gave them the strength, the know-how and the platform to do it. There is no doubt in my mind that Kevin has saved the lives of teenagers throughout the city. Without an outlet and a way to cope, many kids find they can’t face their life problems and the weight of the world is too much for them. I lost quite a few friends from suicide since early high school, as I know most of my friends lost different classmates as well. I know that a few would still be here if they had a chance to meet and work with Kevin. The work that Kevin does is priceless and similar to a superhero.

I am honored to represent Kevin everyday and blessed that I get to see him work and the immediate impact he makes in peoples lives. Please take a minute to watch the Louder Then A Bomb documentary trailer and you will see what I mean.

Kevin, my hat is off to you sir, and indeed your life needs no exaggeration.

No Exaggeration Necessary #4: Life In the Jungle - Mexico/Belize

Recently I had the chance to travel to the middle of the jungle on the boarder of Mexico and Belize. My beautiful travel companion and I took multiple planes, buses and cars down tiny dirt roads full of kids selling whatever type of fruits they could find. When we finally arrived I was anticipating a stay in a lack-luster straw hut with no doors and a gaggle of monkeys waiting to greet us. While there were monkeys, and our hotel was indeed straw covered, it happened to be a 5 star resort featuring our own private pool, open bar, huge rooms, crocodile hunting and ancient ruins.

This was the ultimate vacation experience. No TV, Internet or outside communication of any kind. The only sign in the room said “We are not responsible for actions of sabotage, strikes, terrorism, guerrillas, invasions, your disappearance etc...” What a way to make you feel relaxed!

During the days we would hike through the jungle with monkeys yelling in the trees overhead, go back to the pool with our open bar, go kayaking with crocodiles in the evening and have a world class gourmet dinner at night followed by bathing suit optional dips in our private pool.

Every morning a woman would bring us breakfast in bed and that type of pampering continued throughout the rest of the day. You never know what your going to find when you venture into the unknown. Luckily this time it was a 5 star resort, naked twister, and some Indiana Jones type of adventures.

Crocodile hunting just means finding them with your head flashlight, not killing them.

On February 20th 2009 my friends and fellow MD & Bandit co-workers crowded ourselves into a small, well lit room on Milwaukee Ave. to enjoy some free food, endless amounts of beer and wine, and of course support local artists. Richard Colman was the featured PHAIZ gallery artist of the evening showcasing his work, which was painted loudly along each wall. While I did enjoy Richards work, I was drawn to a section of the gallery where previously featured artists still had their work available for show. I saw a row of mannequins that I was intrigued by do to their almost mummified texture and beautiful colors. I immediately wanted one as I had never seen anything like it. "How Much are you selling these for?" I asked a rep. "There not for sale." she replied. "I'll give you $50." Not only did she sell me the piece but I started a trend, that my two friends followed as well as others who were drawn to the commotion of large garbage bags covering our mannequins for protection. The artists name is Myong Kurily. A spunky, outgoing girl who has a great passion for art and expression. Vegas has always represented achievement to me. I didn’t feel I deserved to go to Vegas until I had proven success and accomplished enough to be over the top with the whole experience. I have been avoiding Las Vegas for a long time. I have been invited countless times and always turned it down. I am happy to report that 2008 was a great year and 2009 could not have kicked off any better, so when the opportunity to travel to Vegas on business reared its head, I was off.

Now, I am not a card player or a gambler, but once I found out they bring you free top shelf drinks while you gamble, I became a hell of a craps roller. To insure I had luck on my side, I rented this lucky charm Leprechaun. And with my faithful Leprechaun by my waist, I took Vegas by storm.

I did well but my friend won 16k in 45 min at the craps table at 5am. And my brother took the slot machines for everything they had. My brother actually doubled his money constantly. Every time he would put in a $20 he would win $40. It was crazy to watch.

Even though I had never been to Vegas before, it was exactly what I had pictured. I would post more pics and video but then we would have to make this blog 18+ and charge.

Helicopter skiing – Deadly, liberating and totally awesome.

Most of you are familiar with helicopters from movies like Rambo and other war movies, but it’s a totally different situation when you’re chest high in fresh powder trying to climb into a helicopter that is barely balancing on an avalanche ready coronus.

Once a year my brother, father and I go to explore terrain previously un-skied to experience a feeling unlike anything I could have ever imagined. It feels half like being in the middle of a war trying to make it out alive and half like your already dead floating in the clouds. It’s as exhilarating yet peaceful as life gets.

We fly to Calgary in Canada, take a bus for 7 hours, then we get picked up by a helicopter and fly far into the unknown. We stay out in the mountains for 10 days with no out-side communication. The only thing to think about it how high can you jump.

Over 30 people have died in avalanches where we ski and many have died in helicopter crashes. It’s dangerous, but if it wasn't a extraordinary experience it would not be worth posting on this blog

Yeah it was selfish, but i was a little tipsy... sue me! So I have this picture of her and I said I would e-mail it to her but I forgot her name and it would be virtually impossible for me to find it in my phone (I have a lot of random's in my phone). I consider myself quite the frequent flyer...a jet setter of sorts. I've become accustomed to the general bullshit that comes along with opting to hop a plane rather than grinding it out behind the wheel - airport security, lack of leg room, delays, turbulence, luggage fees, etc. I can't say much of it gets to me anymore BUT on rare occasion, all of the possible fuckery aligns and makes for a "first" in the world of airline travel...

Weeks ago I traveled to Cannes for the MIDEM conference. The main flight was around 8 hrs from CHI to Zurich...despite the 4 hr delayed flight it was smooth sailing (time flies when you have your own in seat entertainment system loaded with cheesy Hollywood action flicks). I arrived in Zurich with a few minutes to spare to catch my connection to Nice...a 40-minute flight should never be an issue but shit started immediately when I sat down next to homie...

Dude was breathing crazy heavy under his mask and his eyes kept buggin out like he was gonna have some type of seizure...how'd he even get on this flight?! While I was trippin on dude potentially getting sick on me, there's this screaming child kicking the shit out of my seat directly behind me. Now a crying kid on a plane is old news and can usually be drown out with headphones and a decent volume level...not this little bastard. Think of the worst possible noise you've heard, multiply it by 3 or 4 and add some constant thumping to the middle of your back. You could tell his mother was trying to restrain him and get him to shut up but nothing was working and he finally escaped her clutches and hid UNDER MY SEAT!! He was still screaming and now he'd gotten the attention of all the women working on the plane who were all huddled in the aisle trying to devise a plan to lure him out.

At this time the volume on my iphone is all the way up, homie next to me is trippin even harder dozing off leaning his head towards me and that's when the little demon under my seat chose to make his real move...I felt a hand on my ankle and looked down and the screaming beast was trying to bite on my leg!! I instantly pulled my legs up on the seat and tried taking some flicks of this kid but he pulled his head back under the seat like a turtle retreating to his shell. This must have sparked a genius idea with the planning women bc they came back with multiple candy bars and started dangling them down by the floor saying "choc-o-late? choc-o-late?" He snagged one piece of candy and then his mother finally was able to grab his arm and pull him out where he continued to scream in between stuffing all types of sugar into his mouth.

Did I mention this was all before the plane even took off? WTF!!

I have been waiting all my life for my first Grammy experience. This year was my first opportunity to go and I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Should I try to concentrate on business and make some deals, should I wild out super hard and kick it like a superstar, should I go to the celebrity after parties, get a few bottles and live like a big shot....?

Well, it wouldn’t be worthy of posting on this blog if I hadn’t accomplished all that plus some. From creating sync deals with NBC Universal, to signing our group Hey Champ to the largest booking agency in the world (CAA) all while acting a fool in the clubs and after parties and after-after parties. Basically Grammy weekend is the shit and I can’t wait for next year.

It's not too, too, cold out today but I'm sick n' tired of this shit still! There is no reason for the weather to drop below 0, that shit is unnecessary. Before you science geeks try to explain why it is necessary, let me stop you and say "SHUT THE FUCK UP"!!! Moving on, I'm also sick n tired of seeing all of these CAUTION: FALLING ICE signs on every street downtown. Cars are driving on the street so people are forced to walk on the sidewalk. When we see these CAUTION signs we all stare upwards and look like fools walking down the street. As soon as ice does fall and crack someone's skull open the city says "Well didn't you see the falling ice sign"? Yes you big dummies they're on every street! So my question is how do we avoid getting hit by ice and knocked unconscious on the way to work without walking in the street to get hit by a car. ANSWER: Keep your ass at home and tell your boss to take it up with the city!!!

Rob and I just escaped the blizzard yesterday morning on a 6:45am flight to LA that consisted of 2 plane de-icings, a 10 minute running thru the airport layover in Minneapolis and a barking dog in the seat behind me (yes, a barking dog on the plane!)...the 75 degree sunshine I felt when we finally touched down around noon made it all worth it though.

We ended up kicking it with Greenweedz and King last night in Hollywood...good lookin out on the hospitality fellas...
